For centuries, the marble quarries of Carrara have yielded the raw material for monuments, sculptures, and architecture across the world. This photo series captures the monumental landscape, the human imprint, and the quiet drama of a place shaped by both nature and extraction. A variety of presentation methods were used to exhibit a series of photographs, videos, and sound recordings captured in the marble quarries of Carrara, Italy. The work was exhibited at Salon Drie in Nijmegen (NL) and at Host in Amersfoort (NL) in 2017. — Made in collaboration with Lion van den Brand —
